Thrissur District Volleyball Association
The Thrissur District Volleyball Association came into being back in the year 1959 with Mr.George Sammuel, Physical Education Teacher of C.M.S School, Thrissur as its first Secretary. It was at the be rest of Thrissur Y.M.C.A. that its executive member Mr.Sammuel took charge and started his earnest Endeavour to promote the game of Volleyball in the area.
In those days Volleyball in Kerala was centered around a few clubs like Kerala Police, KSRTC and Pockets like Kozhencherry and Vadakara. Of course Triprayar and Mathilakam has its share in Thrissur District. Gradually, a few colleges and clubs started to promote the game.
Now, when the Association Celebrates its Golden Jubilee, it is having around one hundred active clubs including schools and colleges active in the field. Thrissur can boast of its long array of University, state, national and international players it has produced.
Thanks to the selfless, dedicated work of the members of the Association, Thrissur is in the fore front of all district Associations of the state, with regard to activities and achievements.
